We recently updated a 1950s shower in a home that had great bones but needed a fresh look. The goal? Bring the space into the 21st century while preserving the charm of the original layout.

We kept the original shower footprint and carefully cleaned and reused the vintage cast iron base, giving it a second life. From there, we installed updated tile walls, a modern valve and fixture system, and new moisture-resistant backer board to ensure long-term durability — all while respecting the classic character of the home.

The result is a clean, modern shower space that honors its mid-century roots while meeting today’s performance and style standards.
